Judges Education Programme (Breed Shows) – JEP

The Breed Education Co-ordinator for Judges Education Programme (JEP) is Penny Gowland, who is also the lead and liaises with the Royal Kennel Club. Each Golden Retriever Club has its own Education Representative, with delegated responsibilities to arrange seminars and mentoring sessions etc. in the local area.
Each Breed Club needs to run a Breed Appreciation Day, (BAD) every two years or participate in a joint BAD. A joint BAD was held in the Midlands on 22nd September 2024. Breed Clubs came together to put on the event and it was very successful, with a number of people attending and passing the BAD, including people from overseas. The next BAD is due in two years from September 2024. This this will be held in a different area to give people the chance to attend locally. It may be in the North West. This will be announced and posted on our web site, so keep a check on our site.
The Royal Kennel Club's new JEP platform is now live online and available for judges to enter their details and to provide evidence if requested. The Kennel Club will come back to you if they require any further information. Lists of judges are available to Clubs so there is no need for Clubs to keep their own Judges’ lists. There is nothing to stop Clubs keeping their own Judges' Lists if they wish, but there is the problem of maintaining them, whereas the Kennel Club will keep and maintain all records.
